Georges Karam Designs - Furniture Design and Interior Architecture

Georges is a French Designer who began his career in Paris after receiving his degree (IPMD) in interior design in 1985. He has developed many of his interior design skills with some of the most successful international firms in the design industry.

His background as interior architect has on many occasions given him the opportunity to also create furniture and other interior accessories designed specifically for high profile projects.

Georges established his own company, Georges Karam Designs, in 2003 and, following many other prestigious schemes around the Middle East and Europe, was recently commissioned to redesign the first class lounge of Bahrain International Airport, now named the Dilmun Lounge.

HOTEL INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE

Georges Karam Designs specialises in creating exclusive large-scale residential interiors for VIPs in Europe and the Middle East. As recognition of his work has spread, Georges Karam Designs now offers his interior architecture services for luxury hotel brands around the world.

The interior architecture services include exclusive furniture and lighting, bespoke soft furnishings, including carpets, produced to perfectly complement the hotel's theme and create its identity.

REDESIGNING THE LYTHE HILL HOTEL AND SPA

The four-star Lythe Hill Hotel and Amarna Spa, in Haslemere, Surrey, is set in 30 acres of countryside including a lake. It has 41 en-suite bedrooms, luxury spa with fitness suite and indoor swimming pool. There is also an Auberge de France fine-dining restaurant.

The venue has a wedding license and a historic quarter featuring 10 bedrooms including one with a four-poster bed dated 1615, and a panelled restaurant.

Georges Karam Designs' £1m 'revamp' took in all the public areas of the four-star hotel, and featured a timeless 'classic contemporary' theme, reflected in exclusive furniture, soft furnishings and lighting.

Highlights are the BFCA award winning armchairs and similarly the Ingo Maurer 'Yayaho' hanging lighting system which gives the restaurant its poetic quality.

The hotel remained open throughout the programme which was completed on schedule in February 2007.

INTERIOR ARCHITECT OF BAHRAIN AIRPORT

Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) enlisted Georges Karam Designs to design the space allocated to the first and business class for the main international airlines landing in Bahrain. Taking over the project in an emergency situation; where previous work that had begun had to be stopped and restarted from the beginning; without losing the deadline, provided a number of challenges.

All of the interior architecture, mechanical and electrical parts, however, were initiated in record time to meet the client's wishes. The 600m² lounge has 120 seats, two luxurious shower rooms and a special area for disabled passengers.

All the furniture was designed bespoke, including the lighting, tab and the GerorgeK chair. BAS also enlisted the company to create a new branding image for the ground staff in the lounge with new uniforms reflecting the look, a fusion of urban-chic and hip style.
