Autograph Collection adds Mauna Kea Beach Hotel to portfolio

Autograph Collection announced the addition of Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the Kohala Coast in Hawaii to its portfolio of hotels.

The brand's first Hawaiian property and the 75th in its global portfolio, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is said to be renovated throughout, restoring all 252 guest rooms and suites in two buildings.

The new resort has corridor-less floors that appear to float over an ocean-facing atrium.

Militants attack Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli

At least ten people were killed in the Libyan capital Tripoli after militants attacked the Corinthia Hotel in the city.

The lengthily stand-off is also said to have included a carbomb that exploded in the hotel's car park after a protection force entered the lobby and opened fire on the gunmen and killed two of them.

The Malta-owned hotel was targeted as it houses diplomatic missions as well as 'crusader' security companies, AP reported.

Hilton opens Hilton Tianjin Eco-City in China

Hilton announced the opening of Hilton Tianjin Eco-City, its first property in Sino-Singapore Eco-City, Tianjin, China.

The first internationally branded hotel to enter Sino-Singapore Eco-City, the 301-room Hilton Tianjin Eco-City is operated by Hilton Worldwide and owned by Shimao.

Hilton Worldwide full service brands global head Rob Palleschi said: "As one of China's most important municipalities, Tianjin has a long history of welcoming visitors from around the world and being home to the biggest port in Northern China.

ReviewPro to provide guest intelligence solution for Australian hotels

ReviewPro partnered with Star Ratings Australia to offer its guest intelligence solution to accommodation providers across the country.

With the new collaboration, Australia's Star Rated properties will have access to ReviewPro's online reputation management platform Global Review Index (GRI), in the first phase of the two-phase project.

GRI is the B2B online reputation score used by hotels across the globe as a benchmark for guest satisfaction. It is based on consumer review data collected from 142 online travel agencies (OTAs) and review sites in around 45 languages.

Wyndham opens second Ramada hotel in Malaysia

US-based Wyndham Hotel Group opened the new 357-room Ramada Plaza Dua Sentral Kuala Lumpur hotel in Malaysia, which is the brand's second hotel in the country.

Operated by Wyndham Hotel Group's management company, the new 33-storey hotel is near to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the city's shopping, entertainment and attractions.

Wyndham Hotel Group president and South East Asia and Pacific Rim managing director Barry Robinson said: "Wyndham Hotel Group continually seeks to expand our diverse portfolio of hotel brands in high-demand markets like Malaysia where our brands and hotel owners can be successful.

Marriott to buy Delta brand for $135m

Marriott International entered an agreement with British Columbia Investment Management (bcIMC) subsidiary Delta Hotels Limited Partnership to acquire its Delta Hotels and Resorts brand, for around C$168m ($135m).

As part of the deal, Marriott will acquire the Delta management and franchise business, as well as the Delta brand and related intellectual property.

The Delta brand includes hotels and resorts with 38 hotels and 10,000 rooms in around 30 cities across Canada.

Marriott to open first AC Hotel-branded property in South Florida

Marriott International announced plans to open the new AC Hotel Miami Beach in April 2015, which will be the first property of its brand in South Florida, US.

Featuring 150 rooms, the new hotel is being developed in collaboration with Miami's Finvarb Group.

Marriott International Lifestyle Brands vice-president Toni Stoeckl said: "Mid Beach offers the perfect blend of culture, architecture and nightlife that embodies the urban soul of the AC Hotels brand.

 

Strategic Hotels & Resorts acquires Montage Laguna Beach in Southern California

Strategic Hotels & Resorts acquired the Montage Laguna Beach in Southern California from an affiliate of Ohana Real Estate Investors in a transaction worth $360m.

Montage Hotels & Resorts will continue to manage the 250-room resort, which opened in 2003.

The acquired hotel features 60 suites, 16,000ft² of indoor meeting space, a 20,000ft² spa, and multiple acclaimed food and beverage outlets.
