Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide has opened its first W Hotel in Europe.
The W Istanbul in Turkey has 134 rooms, including 26 suites.
Starwood currently operates 22 W Hotels worldwide, with a further 18 under development.
The global hotel and leisure group has also announced a number of new managerial appointments.
Dr Thomas Clarke, President of New Business Ventures for Nike, has been appointed to the company's board of directors, audit committee and capital committee.
Under the position of Chief Brand Officer, Phil McAveety will oversee marketing, brand performance and loyalty programmes for the group's nine brands.
Former Vice-President of Global Staffing, Training and Development at Sheraton, Jeff Cava, has been appointed Executive Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer.
