Premier Plans Lunar Lodging With Moon Hotel

22 May 2008

Premier Inns has launched plans to put a hotel on the moon.

According to UK media reports, the budget chain says it will welcome visitors from earth within 25 years.

The hotel would need thick insulation to protect against solar radiation and extreme temperatures.

Air would have to be imported and the building would need to be pressurised.

"The challenges are unique and no doubt as we learn more we will adapt and improve our designs," Construction Director Alex Flach says.

The first commercial flights to space are due to begin next year.
