Hilton Worldwide has signed a franchise license agreement that would bring Candler Hotel Atlanta to Curio – A Collection by Hilton, an upscale and luxury hotel brand.
The Candler building will open as Candler Hotel Atlanta, Curio Collection by Hilton in late next year after renovations.

The property is owned by REM Associates and will be managed by Highgate Hotels.
Hilton Worldwide North America senior vice-president for development Matt Wehling said: “Paying homage to the iconic Candler building and Atlanta’s heritage, Candler Hotel Atlanta will be a wonderful addition to our portfolio and is an ideal illustration of how Curio hotels are embracing and preserving significant structures across the US.”
The Candler building is one of Atlanta’s oldest landmarks and was developed more than a century ago by one of Coca-Cola’s formative businessmen Asa Candler.
It was Atlanta’s first steel skyscraper when it was built in the early 1900s.

By GlobalDataREM Associates president and CEO Stephen T B Miller said: “For four generations, our family has been committed to the care and preservation of the Candler Building. We have an obligation to ensure that this beloved historical structure continues to tell the Atlanta story.”
Following renovations, the former office building will transform into a 265-guestroom hotel featuring oversized king, double queen and suite rooms.
The primary level of the hotel will include the Candler Building’s Georgia-white marble staircase, original Tiffany windows, a restaurant and bar where Asa Candler’s bank was formerly housed, lobby and lounge area.
The hotel will also feature meeting and event space, in addition to an outdoor rooftop space offering a view of the city.
It is being developed by Development Services Group and REM is partnering with The Beck Group for design-build architecture and construction services and NICOLEHOLLIS for interior design.
Last December, Hilton Worldwide opened its first DoubleTree hotel in Ningbo, Zhejiang, China.
