Scheduled to open next year, the new property with 123 units will be located adjacent to the State House.

Rezidor president Wolfgang M Neumann said: "Driven by economic growth, rapid urbanisation and favourable demographics, and facing an undersupply of quality hotel rooms, Africa offers huge opportunities for growth.

"It plays a key role in our long-term strategy targeting asset light and sustainable growth in EMEA and particularly in emerging markets."

Currently, Radisson Blu has the largest pipeline of hotels and rooms under development on the continent, the company stated.

In August, Carlson announced its plan to expand its presence in India with the signing of three new hotels in the north, south and western parts of the country.

One of the three hotels will be Radisson Blu Kochi Elamkulam, the brand’s first hotel in Kerala, which is set to open in December.

Carlson Rezidor will also be opening the 158-room Radisson Resort Mahabaleshwar in the first quarter of 2019.

The third property, Radisson Gurgaon Sohna Road, is expected to open in the first quarter of 2018.
