Hilton Worldwide has inaugurated the Hampton by Hilton London Luton Airport hotel, which is the brand's UK tenth property.

Located about a mile from the main airport terminal, the new Hampton hotel is expected to benefit from the development of the airport being proposed to deal with passenger traffic that is predicted to grow from ten million a year in 2011 to 18 million by 2031.

Hilton already operates the mid-market Garden Inn Luton North at the airport, which is targeted at low-cost airlines travellers.

Hilton Worldwide EMEA area president Simon Vincent said: "This fantastic new Hampton by Hilton allows us to build an unrivalled presence in a market undergoing sustained growth."

The hotel is located near to Luton Airport Parkway train station and Capability Green Business Park.

Hilton inaugurated its first dual property in the UK, the Hampton by Hilton at St George's Park in August; the hotel is located at the Football Association's new National Football Centre in Burton-upon-Trent.

Hampton by Hilton York, opposite the York Railway Station, was inaugurated in October.

The group has nine more Hampton hotels in pipeline in the UK and 40 in Europe.
