Grand Hyatt

Hyatt Hotels has entered into a contract with Tamdeen Group to develop a 261-room Grand Hyatt hotel in Kuwait.

Expected to open in 2020, the new hotel will be located in 360 Mall, a shopping destination featuring retail, leisure and entertainment facilities.

According to the company, the hotel will be the fifth Grand Hyatt hotel in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Hyatt Europe, Africa, and Middle East acquisitions and development senior vice-president Peter Norman said: "We look forward to welcoming guests to Grand Hyatt Kuwait, where they will be able to experience the innovative design, dramatic architecture and superior service for which the Grand Hyatt brand is known."

Designed by RTKL Architects, Grand Hyatt Kuwait will be located on 6th Ring road and will offer 130ft² rooms, four food and beverage outlets, and first-class meeting and events facilities.

Tamdeen Group chairman Mohammed Jassim Khalid Al Marzouq said: "Grand Hyatt Kuwait, our first project with Hyatt, will bring the hospitality aspect of the 360 Mall to life as part of the expansion of the prestigious international tennis complex launched earlier this month.

Tamdeem Group is working to reshape Kuwait’s urban and social landscape through the development of innovative mixed-use projects.

Reuters reported recently that Hyatt Hotels is negotiating the purchase of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide.

Starwood is currently valued at approximately $12.75bn, while Hyatt has a value of $7.23bn.
