InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced that it will develop two more hotels in Germany, Holiday Inn Express Siegen and Holiday Inn Düsseldorf – Toulouser Allee, under existing multiple development agreements (MDAs) with long-standing partners.

IHG will build the new 120-room Holiday Inn Express Siegen in Siegen, a university town in Germany with a population in excess of 100,000.

The hotel will be operated by its existing MDA partner Tristar Hotel & Management, under a franchise agreement.

The hotel, which is scheduled to open by the end of 2015, is centrally located on an intersection in the heart of the city and within walking distance of the main rail station, noted IHG.

IHG will construct the new 213-room Holiday Inn Düsseldorf – Toulouser Allee in the German city of Düsseldorf.

This hotel, which is due to open in 2016, will be operated by another existing MDA partner, Arcadia Hotelbetriebs, under a franchise agreement.

"Our multiple development agreements are proving very effective in accelerating the pace of development growth for our owner partners and for IHG."

Currently, Arcadia Hotelbetriebs operates Holiday Inn Munich South, Holiday Inn Express Gütersloh, Holiday Inn Express Osnabrück and Holiday Inn Salzburg.

"Our multiple development agreements are proving very effective in accelerating the pace of development growth for our owner partners and for IHG," Shepherd added.

There are currently 282 Holiday Inn hotels in Europe, and plans are underway to develop 35 more hotels in the continent, said IHG.

IHG includes nine hotel brands – InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Hotels and Resorts, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites, EVEN Hotels and HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts.

With more than 1,100 hotels in its development pipeline, IHG franchises, leases, manages or owns over 4,700 hotels and 687,000 guest rooms in nearly 100 countries and territories.
