North Korea's Ryugyong Hotel to open in 2012

12 October 2011

Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang, North Korea, is to partially open in April 2012 following decades of delays, according to reports.

The hotel is located on the 20th-30th floors of a 105-storey glass tower, which rises 1,080ft above Pyongyang's skyline.

Although construction of the tower was launched in 1987, work was halted in 1993 due to a lack of funds.

In partnership with Egyptian conglomerate Orascom Group, North Korea announced plans to resume and complete construction three years ago, according to telegraph.co.uk.
