Cedar Court Hotels has signed two 15-year agreements with EuroSite Power for installation and operation of combined heat and power (CHP) systems at two UK hotels, the Best Western Cedar Court Hotel, Harrogate, and the Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa, York.
EuroSite Power, a supplier of electricity, heat, hot water and cooling systems to hospitality, healthcare, housing and leisure centres in the UK, will install 100kWe CHP units at the two hotels under the agreements, which have a combined potential revenue value of £3.1m.
The unit at the Cedar Court Hotel, Harrogate, will have a capacity to produce about 1.2GWh energy per annum saving 122t of CO2, while the unit at the Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa, York, will produce over 1.6GWh saving 192t of CO2 a year.
EuroSite, which will also provide maintenance and repair services under the agreement, has offered its On-Site Utility service to the two hotels.
Under On-Site Utility, EuroSite installs on-site energy units and charges only for the electricity produced by the system. It bears all the capital, installation and operating expenses.
According to EuroSite, its systems will provide electricity, heating and domestic hot water to the hotels at a lower cost than the current energy suppliers.
Cedar Court Huddersfield is also having EuroSite Power unit installed on its premises, under a 15-year contract signed in May 2012.
Cedar Court Huddersfield will have a 100kWe CHP unit installed to offset 221t of CO2 while producing 2MWh of energy annually.
Cedar Court Hotels is part of the Best Western Group of Hotels, an independent hotelier based in Yorkshire, England.
