The Aguas de Ibiza opened for the first time in 2009 on Ibiza in the Balearic Islands, near the Santa Eulalia del Rio Marina, with excellent views of the harbour and the island of Formentera.

The new five-star establishment seeks to cater for the upmarket tourism and business markets and has focused its facilities accordingly.

The Aguas de Ibiza Spa and Resort has 83 rooms and suites over three floors for the main hotel, including 26 standard rooms, 45 junior suites and 12 corner suites. In addition, the fourth floor forms a hotel within the hotel and includes an exclusive club called Cloud Nine with a separate check-in desk and its own amenities and services.

Cloud Nine has 18 luxury suites and one Presidential Ibiza loft. In total the hotel has 112 rooms for guest use.

Design of Aguas de Ibiza

The spa and resort hotel, which is owned and run by the Torres Family, was designed and constructed by local architect Juan de los Ríos. The interior design was carried out by the Barcelona-based Triade Studio and the spa (Revival Wellness Club) was designed by Felix Prado.

The hotel has set aside a 1,300ft² landscaped garden for guest use. The hotel was designed to conserve 35% more energy than similar-sized hotels in the area.

Facilities at Aguas de Ibiza

The Aguas de Ibiza hotel offers a gym and 16,000ft² spa with temperature-controlled mineral salt pools, aromatherapy, Formentera mud treatments, sauna, steam room and Thalassotherapy pool. In addition there are three outdoor swimming pools including one on the rooftop (red tiled).

The hotel has a beauty salon and a boutique, and there is wireless internet available throughout. The Business Centre measures 4,300ft² and consists of a private garden and a modular multi-use hall that can host up to 300 people and be configured into three separate rooms.

The hotel also has a High Performance Executive Centre consisting of four rooms configured for seminars, videoconferencing, training and corporate activities (430ft², 540ft², 540ft² and 750ft², respectively).

Bars and lounges

The Aguas de Ibiza hotel offers several bars, lounges and restaurants to suit various moods. The Air Ibiza rooftop terrace bar, the Scuba cocktail bar with resident DJ (60 seats at tables and seven at the bar) and the Albastro lobby lounge for drinks and tapas (44 seats, 13 indoor rooms, eight seated at the bar, 12 outdoor rooms and eight terrace tables).

There are two restaurants serving Mediterranean food. The Oligo is a buffet restaurant and La Sal is a gourmet restaurant producing modern interpretations of traditional Ibizan dishes.

Accommodation

The Aguas de Ibiza’s rooms and suites on the first three floors all have private terraces and large glass windows. The luxurious Cloud Nine lofts and suites feature hardwood parquet floors, a pillow menu, welcome pack, private terraces with oversized bathtubs and harbour views.

All of the rooms in the Aguas have digital cable TV and Bang & Olufsen monitors. In addition, there is a state-of-the-art, personalised, energy-saving lighting and curtain control (Domotics). The dominant colour schemes of the first three floors are blue and white, with beige and brown on the fourth floor (Cloud Nine). The 12 corner suites of the hotel have 180º views and 700ft² of floor space, with private terraces equipped with Jacuzzis.

The 18 Cloud Nine suites have a floor space of between 750 and 970ft² and also have private terraces and Jacuzzis. The Presidential loft has two floors with a total space of 1,300ft² and has direct private access to the rooftop cocktail bar.
