PARK INN MALMO

The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced a further Park Inn hotel in Sweden, having recently opened another at Liège airport in Belgium. Rezidor has signed a contract with Midroc Property Development AB (a property builder and developer based in Malmo) to open the Park Inn Malmo during the first quarter of 2010.

The hotel will be situated adjacent to the World Trade Centre in the Western Harbour, which is one of the city's fastest growing areas; it also hosts the Malmo University and the landmark Turning Torso building. The deal is still subject to final planning permissions being obtained from the Swedish authorities.

"The brand is deeply committed to providing the key essential of any hotel experience: a good night's sleep."

The Park Inn Malmo will feature 220 rooms, a full-service restaurant, meeting/business facilities and an underground parking garage. Kurt Ritter, president and CEO of the Rezidor Hotel Group, said: "This hotel will be a great addition to the Park Inn family. Malmo (270,000 residents) and the Oresund region are very dynamic, and the location in the Western Harbour is ideal. The hotel will also nicely complement our exciting Park Inn projects in Stockholm, where the new hotel and congress centre right next to the City Hall will have an international flair.

"Spotlessly clean, easy to use and safe, Park Inn hotels are youthful, colourful, energetic and fun, with a warm and casual 'Yes I Can!' service approach. The brand is deeply committed to providing the key essential of any hotel experience: a good night's sleep."

POSITIONING

Malmo is Sweden's third largest city and is part of the dynamic business-oriented Oresund region, which also includes the entire Copenhagen area in Denmark. The Oresund Bridge connects Malmo with Copenhagen and offers speedy access to Copenhagen International Airport, located just 20 minutes from Malmo Central station.

Currently, Park Inn in Sweden includes 13 hotels with two projects under development. The Western Harbour was formerly a heavy industrial area, which has been undergoing a regeneration project since 2001 to replace factories and warehouses with an urban environment featuring shops, restaurants, galleries and offices.
