AccorHotels in the Benelux countries has upgraded its WiFi networks to the latest wireless networking standard, known as 802.11ac.

The upgrades were carried out by Swisscom Hospitality, which integrated with Hoist Group last month; Hoist Group now manages and services the AccorHotels Benelux networks through its Fusion Platform.

802.11ac is the latest wireless standard issued by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

It offers a much greater bandwidth, performance and scalability than previous standards. With its Fusion Platform, Hoist Group allows hoteliers to benefit from the new standard to serve their guests, especially those who want to stream content from the internet and use other bandwidth-hungry applications with their personal devices.

The Fusion Platform supports 1Gbps of data throughput and several thousand simultaneously connected devices in a single hotel property.

AccorHotels VP for guest technology David Esseryk said: "Our guests love our new internet services, as we can see in the impressive climb of our guest satisfaction scores for wireless connectivity.

"Beyond a great internet experience, our new wireless networks also provide a robust basis for a range of new digital applications that we are planning to roll out to further enhance the digital guest experience."

Hoist Group deputy CEO Alfonso Tasso said: "We are delighted to have earned the trust of AccorHotels Benelux.

"We will continue to work with AccorHotels in the Benelux countries, as we already do elsewhere, to help them stand out in an increasingly competitive environment where digital has become a key differentiator."

Hoist Group will deploy further AccorHotels Benelux properties with its Fusion Platform and ultra-modern wireless networks in the second half of the year.
