This compares to a 201% increase versus Q3 2021.

Notably, Food Servers, Nonrestaurant jobs accounted for a 9% share of the global travel and tourism industry’s environmental sustainability-related total new job postings in Q3 2022, down 1% over the prior quarter.

Food Servers, Nonrestaurant, with a share of 9%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the travel and tourism industry in Q3 2022, with new job postings drop by 1% quarter-on-quarter. Maintenance and Repair Workers, General came in second with a share of 3% in Q3 2022, with new job postings drop by 34% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include General and Operations Managers with a 3% share in Q3 2022, Dishwashers with a 3% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in travel and tourism industry accounted for 47% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2022 were Marriott International, Wizz Air, Accor and Flix. Together they accounted for a combined share of 47% of all environmental sustainability-related active jobs in the travel and tourism industry.

Marriott International posted 787 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q3 2022, Wizz Air 614 jobs, Accor 264 jobs, and Flix 255 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 51% share of total active job postings, Q3 2022

The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the travel and tourism industry in Q3 2022 was in the US with 51% followed by Hungary (10%) and the UK (9%). The share represented by the US was 11 percentage points lower than the 61% share it accounted for in Q2 2022.
