The five most visited tourism destinations in Africa in 2022

Verdict lists the projected top five tourist destinations in Africa in 2022, based on international arrivals, according to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database.

1. Morocco – 8.7 million arrivals

GlobalData forecasts that Morocco will welcome 8.7 million international arrivals in 2022, making it the most popular destination in Africa. According to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database, France, Spain and Germany are forecast to be the largest source markets for Morocco in 2022.

2. Egypt – 7.9 million arrivals

According to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database, Egypt will be the second most popular destination in Africa, welcoming 7.9 million arrivals. GlobalData predicts that Germany, Saudi Arabia and Israel will be the largest source markets for the destination in 2022.

3. South Africa – 6.8 million arrivals

Expected to welcome 6.8 million international arrivals in 2022, South Africa will be the third most popular destination in Africa, according to GlobalData. Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Mozambique are forecast to be the largest source markets for South Africa in 2022.

4. Tunisia – 6.1 million arrivals

According to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database, Tunisia will be the fourth most popular destination in Africa, welcoming 6.1 million arrivals. Furthermore, GlobalData predicts that Algeria, Libya and France will be the largest source markets for the destination in 2022.

5. Zimbabwe – 1.6 million arrivals

GlobalData forecasts that Zimbabwe will welcome 1.6 million international arrivals in 2022, making it the fifth most popular destination in Africa. According to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database, South Africa, Mozambique and Zambia are forecast to be the largest source markets for Zimbabwe in 2022.
