The California Hotel and Lodging Association (CHLA) in the US has decided to reopen its hotels this week.

The decision comes after the state authorities permitted the resumption of leisure travels in the state under the revised California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines.

50 out of 58 counties in the state have submitted mandatory health reports to CDPH meeting Covid-19 health criteria for re-opening hotels.

“Our CDC-backed health safety procedures will ensure the well-being of our guests, our employees and our communities.”

The association has also added work-site specific plans to its Clean + Safe guide and self-certification process to assist the hotels in reopening with safety measures.

The plan includes necessary updates to the guidelines and employee training to equip the staff operate in the post Covid-19 environment.

The guide is based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the California Department of Public Health, and Cal/OSHA for cleanliness to ensure safety of the guests as well as workers.

Notably, California has confirmed more than 131,000 Covid-19 cases, as of 9 June. The death toll also surged to 4,657.
