Thailand-based hotel operator Centara Hotels & Resorts has signed agreements for three new hotels in Myanmar.

Under the Hotel Management Agreements (HMAs), the operator will manage Centra by Centara Hotel Thiri Hpa-An, Hpa-An Hilltop Resort & Spa and Centara Hotel Mandalay.

The hotels will be developed by SL International Construction. Over the last year, Centara has signed deals that take its total number of properties in Myanmar to nine.

Centra by Centara Hotel Thiri Hpa-An is a 77-key hotel featuring two Food & Beverages (F&B) outlets, outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre and meeting facilities.

This hotel is scheduled to open next year.

The second hotel, Hpa-An Hilltop Resort & Spa, is expected to be operational in 2022.

It is located 20-minute away from Centra by Centara Hotel Thiri Hpa-An and will be managed under the Centara Boutique Collection brand.

The resort will house 60 guest rooms and bungalows along with two F&B outlets, a spa, kid’s club, fitness centre with swimming pool and a guest entertainment centre.

Centara Hotel Mandalay is the third hotel that is part of a mixed-use project. It will open in 2024.

The 200-room hotel will feature three restaurants, meeting facilities, fitness centre with swimming pool, and guest recreational facilities.

Centara Hotels and Resorts CEO Thirayuth Chirathivat said: “As we continue to expand into exciting destinations such as Myanmar, a beautiful destination with great tourism potential, we look forward to showcasing our Thai hospitality and family values on a wider international stage.

“For this project, we are very happy to be working with SL International Construction, a partnership which I trust will contribute positively to the tourism of the country.

Centara has also signed a management deal in Oman and two in Vietnam.
