Switzerland-based luxury hotel The Chedi Andermatt will reportedly start accepting cryptocurrency payments from its guests for its services.

Located in Swiss Alps, the luxury hotel will allow its guests to make payment in both Bitcoin and Ethereum, reported BloombergQuint.

As part of this effort, the hotel has teamed up with Swiss crypto service provider Bitcoin Suisse and payment-service provider Worldline.

The cryptocurrency payment that will be received by the hotel will be immediately converted into Swiss francs once the transfer is confirmed.

Other cryptocurrencies would be considered by The Chedi Andermatt in future, according to the publication.

The Chedi Andermatt managing director Jean -Yves Blatt was quoted by Swiss media Blick quoted as saying: “We have long recognized that cryptocurrencies have a future in hotel operations as well.

“Faced with the increasing spread and acceptance of cryptocurrency payments, we are proud to be one of the first Swiss luxury hotels to be able to offer our customers cryptocurrencies as a secure payment method.”

Although the resort started looking into the cryptocurrency payment option about four years ago, it was seeking to ensure secure transactions and avoid price fluctuations, according to BloombergQuint.

Blatt was cited by the news agency as saying said: “We are making a clear statement to our hotel guests that we are open to new technologies and at the same time offer a new payment experience as an additional service.”

Founded in 2013, The Chedi Andermatt comprises 123 elegant rooms and suites, five restaurants and bars, a modern Health Club, spa area, among others.

Situated in the Urserntal in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the hotel’s dining options include Western and Asian cuisine at The Restaurant, The Japanese Restaurant, The Chalet (only open during the winter months), The Wine and Cigar Library, The Lobby, The Courtyard, The Pool and The Bar and Living Room.
