Hotel Okura has announced the opening of Okura Tokyo in early September of next year, replacing the aging Hotel Okura Tokyo.

The Okura Tokyo will feature the former Hotel Okura Tokyo’s traditional Japanese beauty and offer a new combination of traditional luxury with contemporary luxury.

It will feature 508 luxury rooms, which will be available in two buildings.

Okura Heritage Wing, which is the smaller of the two buildings, will have its own reception. It will be a 75m, 17-story structure, providing views of greenery on three sides. It will serve as a top-end luxury hotel providing classically Japanese atmosphere.

It will feature Yamazato Japanese restaurant and Chosho-an tea ceremony room.

The larger building, called Okura Prestige Tower will be a 188m, 41-story structure.

“It was sad to put our much-adored Hotel Okura Tokyo to rest, but I am fully confident that The Okura Tokyo will be equally loved by our worldwide guests and visitors. The Okura Tokyo will proudly offer the incomparable Japanese-style hospitality and other attributes that distinguished our original hotel, which we will combine with the highest standards of contemporary luxury to ensure that guests enjoy memorable, supremely comfortable stays.”

Privately operated art museum, Okura Museum of Art will also make its second coming on the property. This museum was originally established in 1917.

The original Hotel Okura Tokyo opened its doors in 1962.
