Hotel establishments in Dubai have been warned of heavy penalties and closures for failing to comply with COVID-19 regulations.

According to Dubai Media Office tweet, non-compliant establishments will face a penalty and/or closure, as per the enforced regulations.

The civic body said it continues to carry out intensive inspection campaigns on hotel establishments to ensure compliance with COVID-19 precautionary measures.

The warning from the civic body follows the increase in COVID-19 cases in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with 1,007 new coronavirus cases reported on Saturday.

A set of COVID-19 guidelines for hotels across the UAE was released in June this year, under which all employees must be tested for coronavirus before reopening, and retested every 15 days.

According to the guidelines, hotels are expected to provide an infrared thermometer and thermal camera.
