Hotels in Dubai are required to operate at 70% occupancy level, as per a new set of precautionary measures that became effective on 2 February.

The new measures, introduced by Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, will remain effective until 28 February. These measures are aimed at restricting the spread of Covid-19.

In an interview with Gulf News, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) Corporate Services and Investment CEO Ahmad Al Falasi said: “All hotel establishments shall operate at 70% occupancy level.

“For existing hotels operating at occupancy level above 70%, no new bookings or extensions shall be made until the hotels adhere to the aforementioned limit in addition to postponement of any activity that leads to large gatherings such as weekend brunches.”

If the hotel establishments fail to comply with the new set of measures, they would face stringent action.

The precautionary measures have been undertaken due to several recent violations.

Al Falasi added:  “The safety and wellbeing of all is our utmost priority and we look forward to the continued support of hotels in Dubai in ensuring compliance with all precautionary measures.”

Under the new measures, all pubs and bars are being temporarily closed from 2 February to 28 February.

Passengers arriving to the city from any destination are required to carry a negative Covid-19 PCR test certificate for a test taken within 72 hours prior to their departure.
