The Dubai Media Office (DMO) has announced that over 10,000 employees from 20 hotels at the Palm Jumeirah were given their first and second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine last month.

Initiated by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and hospitality stakeholders, the vaccinations were administered at their respective workplaces.

The vaccination initiative, which has helped strengthen Dubai’s position as one of the safest destinations in the world, is a pilot programme of Dubai Tourism for the hospitality sector to underline the high level of safety preparedness in the city.

Currently, the UAE is ranked among the world’s top five countries with respect to overall vaccine rollout, and it also has a very effective test-and-trace programme to boot, claimed the DMO.

Ever since Dubai began allowing domestic tourists from May 2020 onwards and international tourists from July 2020, the city’s hotels have been adhering to health and safety guidelines.

The Palm Jumeirah houses several world-famous, luxury resorts.

Dubai’s efficient management during the Covid-19 crisis was highly appreciated by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), which awarded a ‘Safe Travels’ stamp to the city.

Dubai too launched the ‘Dubai Assured’ stamp to certify hotels, food and beverage outlets, retail establishments and other attractions that fulfilled all health and safety protocols introduced by Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management.

This specially designed stamp has a validity of 15 days and is issued free of charge. It is renewed every fortnight upon further inspection and verification by relevant government entities.
