Hotels in Abu Dhabi are preparing to reopen after they were closed due to health and safety precautionary measures imposed to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

They will be able to reopen their facilities such as restaurants, lounges, bars, beaches, pools and gyms as soon as they get approval from the Department of Culture & Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).

To obtain the approval, the hotels are required to complete all the measures which are outlined in the document compiled by DCT Abu Dhabi.

DCT Abu Dhabi’s guidelines consist of general measurements, social distancing rules, crowd control measures and rules for returning employees in order to  help hotels resume business safely.

The general measurements include restricted operating hours, provision of hand sanitisers at every entrance and regular disinfection of high touch points and cleaning of restrooms after every individual use.

Under the new guidelines, the hotels are now required to install thermal cameras that are integrated with the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority system.

A mandatory isolation room to isolate suspected Covid-19 cases and a medical team that is on standby during operating hours are also instructed by the authority.

Social distancing and crowd control measures include limiting the capacity of visitors to 30% of the total capacity of hotel facilities with 2m distance.

DTC Abu Dhabi has introduced stricter measures for employees which include bi-weekly Covid-19 tests and regular temperature checks throughout the working hours. They must also wear gloves and masks and ensure frequent changing.

The opening of restaurants will remain on hold until the hotels get approval upon completion of the measurements implementation as per the guidelines issued.
