South Asian hospitality company Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has revealed plans to open a new hotel at Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport), Bengaluru, India.

An agreement has been signed by IHCL with Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL).

The hotel complex is part of the sustainable Airport City being developed by BACL at BLR Airport. It will be a combination of two brands, namely Vivanta and Ginger.

BACL CEO Rao Munukutla said: “We are happy to collaborate on this hotel complex with IHCL as we believe this partnership will put the Airport City on the national and international convention circuit.

“This is a steppingstone towards making BLR Airport a significant destination for the region.

“The Airport City project will not only help meet the growing commercial needs of people, but also create massive job opportunities, as well as boost economies of the state and the country.”

Of the total 775 rooms, Vivanta hotel will have 450 rooms and Ginger will feature 325 keys.

Scheduled to open in 2025, both the hotels will offer elaborate banqueting facilities.

According to IHCL, this property “will be a management contract with BACL to operate another hotel” at the international airport. The hospitality company already runs Taj Bangalore hotel at BLR Airport.

IHCL managing director and chief executive officer Puneet Chhatwal said: “This new upcoming hotel complex, along with Taj Bangalore, will offer a combined inventory of 1,150 rooms catering to the needs of this dynamic and evolving market.”

The new property will take the number of hotels operated by IHCL in Bengaluru to 12.

Last year, the company partnered with Ambuja Neotia Group to open three Taj hotels in Kolkata, West Bengal, and Patna, Bihar, India.

Globally, IHCL operates 221 hotels including 55 under development in 12 countries.
