The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), an industry body, has issued a new guidebook that the hotels and restaurants need to follow while resuming operations.

The new guidebook is devised to minimise Covid-19 contagion risks, as India gradually reopens after a period of Covid-19 related lockdown.

It lists all instructions and best practices that the hotels and restaurants are required to follow in everyday operations to minimise contagion risks.

According to PTI, the 44-page manual includes instructions to minimise contact between staff and guests as well as to implement social distancing guidelines.

It also includes guidelines for food handling, housekeeping and laundry care among others.

FHRAI vice-president Gurbaxish Singh Kohli said: “The manual is an exclusive guidebook for the hotel and restaurant industry and has been designed in association with the FSSAI.

“The objective is preparedness and through this, we are trying to bring a change in habits. FHRAI members have been kept informed and updated about best practices in addition to the MHA guidelines for ensuring guest safety and most of these best practices have now been adopted in the MHA guidelines.

“Some of these guidelines need to be amended, about which we have already briefed the authorities. Everyday activities will be required to be put under a microscope since safety of our guests is paramount.”
