Marriott, Sela Sport to develop two luxury hotels in Saudi Arabia

The partnership will see the openings of The St. Regis Riyadh and The Jeddah EDITION next year.

The two properties include The St. Regis Riyadh and The Jeddah EDITION. Both the new hotels are slated to open in 2022.

Marriott International EMEA chief development officer Jerome Briet said: “We are thrilled to work with Sela Sport Company to bring these exciting new projects to Riyadh and Jeddah.

“These signings showcase both the growth of the tourism sector in Saudi Arabia and the strong interest in our portfolio of sought-after luxury brands.”

Located at the entrance of Diplomatic Quarter, The St. Regis Riyadh will feature 83 guestrooms including 23 suites, two signature restaurants, an outdoor pool, a fitness centre, and spa.

In addition, the hotel will be a part of ‘Via Riyadh’, a luxury mixed-use development.

The Jeddah EDITION will be located in the Jeddah Yacht Club and Marina.

It will feature 63 guestrooms, an indoor and an outdoor pool, a penthouse terrace, a spa, a signature restaurant, a lounge bar, a rooftop bar, and a fitness centre.

Sela Sport Company managing director Dr Rakan Al-Harthy said: “The St. Regis Riyadh will be part of the ‘Via Riyadh’ which will be an ultra-luxurious zone of the Riyadh Season 2021, the six-month event that celebrates the city and its culture.

“While The Jeddah EDITION will be perfectly located in the Jeddah Yacht Club and Marina, Jeddah’s most anticipated destination and will be part of the city’s vibrant celebrations and events during Jeddah Season.”

Currently, Marriott operates more than 30 hotels across ten brands in the Kingdom.

Earlier this month, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts revealed plans to open a new property in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2025.
