InterContinental Hotels is to launch another 28 properties in the UK.
The new hotels will open in destinations including Southend, York, Newcastle, Manchester, Blackpool, Birmingham, Colchester, Walsall, Bristol and Edinburgh.
The opening also includes a flagship InterContinental at Westminster, London, and a Holiday Inn and a Stalybridge near the Olympics 2012 site in east London.
The group operates 269 hotels under the Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and Stalybridge brands.
The group’s underlying profits rose by 23% to $269m for the first six months of 2011, while revenue per room increased by 6.7%, with the US posting an 8.2% rise as Holiday Inn’s performance picked up.
