Starwood Hotels & Resorts is expanding the Luxury Collection’s European portfolio by adding four hotels in the continent, out of which two are already open.

The luxury hotel chain added Augustine, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Prague and Caresse, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa in Bodrum in July.

The company is set to open Falisia, a Luxury Collection resort and spa in Portopiccolo and the Grand Hotel River Park in Bratislava.

Situated in the north-eastern part of Italy on the Adriatic coast, Falisia is a 65-room resort and spa, which features a private beach with an infinity pool, two restaurants, a lounge bar, a spa and three meeting rooms.

"With these new additions to the Luxury Collection, the brand will boast 43 unique hotels and resorts in Europe."

The resort, which is set to open this month, is located close to airports in Venice and Trieste, and is also close to the borders of Slovenia and Croatia. Falisia marks the brand’s seventh property in Italy.

The Grand Hotel River Park is located on the river bank of Danube and is set to open in August. It features 231 rooms and suites, two restaurants and a lobby bar, fitness center and spa, two ballrooms and five meeting rooms, along with an indoor pool.

Dutch architect Erick van Egeraat designed the hotel, owned by Best Hotel Properties, which will also manage the property when it joins the Luxury Collection.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts EMEA senior vice-president acquisition and development Bart Carnahan said: "We continue to see new-build opportunities in the region, such as Caresse and Falisia, which are part of multi-unit developments.

"At the same time, conversions remain a key part of our growth strategy, enabling us to add established hotels, such as Augustine and Grand Hotel River Park into the Starwood system.

"With these new additions to the Luxury Collection, the brand will boast 43 unique hotels and resorts in Europe."
