UK hotel brand Travelodge has announced plans to invest £100m to open 15 new properties in 2015 across the country.

The new hotels include four in London, a new central Glasgow property, as well as key regional locations that include the Thames Valley tech corridor, Southampton and Bristol.

The company will have a portfolio of 510 hotels and 37,906 rooms in the UK, with the opening of new properties.

"We now have 87% of guest rooms upgraded to our new look."

According to Travelodge, the expansion is expected to create 400 new jobs, comprising 350 positions in the new hotels and 50 support roles.

In addition, the new hotels are expected to support the creation of a further 3,000 new jobs, with the company having also identified potential for more than 150 further hotels across the country.

As part of its long-term expansion plans, Travelodge signed the first three hotels, and new properties at London Dagenham, Dover and Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, involving an investment of £13m.
