Hotel Okura subsidiary Okura Nikko Hotel Management has announced that Hotel JAL City Toyama will be opened in Japan in 2022.

The new hotel will be located in front of Toyama station, which is served by the Hokuriku Shinkansen with direct connections to Nagano and Tokyo.

Toyama, one of the major industrial cities on the Sea of Japan coast, is situated in a region that offers ample supplies of clean water for industrial use. It is also home to companies involved in the manufacture of precision industrial products, microfabrics and high-performance robots.

The area has an abundant supply of power as well as research facilities, which are the result of collaboration between the government, industry and academia.

It also has several tourist attractions, including the Toyama Bay.

Okura Nikko Hotel Management is expected to appoint Nishimatsu Construction and its wholly owned subsidiary Nishimatsu Hotel Management for asset and project management services for the new hotel by the end of this month.

Located at Takara-machi 1, the 10-floor hotel will have a total floor space of 9,600m² and will offer nearly 250 guest rooms as well as all-day dining facilities, a bar and a library.

The average guest room area will be 25m², with twin-bed rooms ranging from 26m² to 31m² in size and double-bed rooms of 21m².

The new hotel will also provide a range of digital devices to the guests.

Nishimatsu Construction sees a long-term future for the hotel, and plans to use its know-how from the planning and design stages.

The day-to-day operation of the hotel is expected to be looked after by Okura Nikko Hotel Management due to its vast network of properties in Japan and overseas.

Okura Nikko Hotel Management CEO Marcel P van Aelst said: “We are pleased to be expanding the network of Okura Nikko Hotels across Japan with the opening of the new Hotel JAL City in Toyama, and are looking forward to welcoming domestic and overseas visitors to the new property.”
