Slated to open in October this year, Kimpton Sydney will be an addition to the growing portfolio of IHG’s luxury brand of Kimpton Hotels globally. The first Kimpton Hotel in the US introduced its boutique concept in 1981.

Kimpton Sydney will feature 172 rooms and suites, a rooftop swimming pool, spaces for conferences and events, along with a lobby bar, rooftop restaurant and a café.

The construction is set to involve renovation of lobby, guest rooms and F&B at Primus Sydney.

Pro-invest Group Co-CEO Jan Smits said: “Such a uniquely beautiful and historic hotel called for a brand that would bring the guest experience to life, and as each Kimpton hotel is a hotel-of-one, individually designed to blend the surrounding environment with local culture, offering guests an authentic and playful experience, we knew it was the right choice.”

Currently, 73 Kimpton Hotels are open across the world, with 32 in pipeline. Last month, IHG announced plans to open the second Kimpton hotel in Koh Samui, Thailand later this year.

IHG Australasia, Japan & Pacific managing director Leanne Harwood said: “We are so proud to have such a great long-term partnership with Pro-invest that already includes 13 open or pipeline hotels across three IHG brands, and we look forward to continuing that growth together.”
