Rivers Casino Pittsburgh has announced its plans to break ground on a $60m North Shore hotel later this summer (June to September) in Pittsburgh, US.

The seven-story, four-star hotel, to be called The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh, will feature 219 guest rooms.

This property will attach to the existing casino on the east facade.

In 2017, Rivers Casino Pittsburgh secured approval for a hotel from the Pittsburgh Planning Commission.

However, the development plan was delayed due to the approval of gaming legislation that required category 4 “mini-casinos”. This legislation, according to the company, “reshaped the Pennsylvania casino landscape”.

Rush Street Gaming and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh CEO Greg Carlin said: “The time is right. Statewide gaming expansion changed our schedule, but never our intentions. Rush Street always envisioned a hotel for Rivers to create a full-service destination on the North Shore. We see it as a natural evolution.”

The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh will be the second location for The Landing Hotel, which opened in Schenectady, New York, in 2017 as part of Rivers Casino and Resort’s complex at Mohawk Harbor.

The hotel will create around 128 permanent new hotel and casino jobs, along with 1,400 temporary construction jobs.

For the construction of the hotel, Rush Street has chosen Pittsburgh-based Massaro Construction Group.

The Landing Hotel will feature expansive windows on every level to provide views of the Ohio River and Pittsburgh’s skyline.

The guest rooms will feature 10 luxury terrace suites, each with private first-floor patios.

Rivers Casino Pittsburgh has already begun the administrative process of applying for permits with the city.

Once the construction work begins, it will be completed in approximately 18 months .

The hotel is expected to open in 2021. It was designed by hospitality architect VOA.
