Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has issued an advisory that hotels can apply to open for staycation bookings.

According to the advisory, hotels can apply to resume providing accommodation services to guests, and recreation areas for children.

The hotels, however, are required to strictly adhere to social distancing rules.

As per the safe distancing measures, hotels will be required to restrict occupancy in accessible public spaces to not more than one person per 10m2  at any given point in time. They will be required to stagger check-in and check-out timings, and screen every guest at entry point for fever.

Within the hotel, employees and guests need to wear face masks.

The hotels also need to identify spots amid its function areas and implement mechanisms to prevent crowds.

Hotels that are allotted as government-contracted facilities for Covid-19, would need to meet additional requirements.

As per these additional requirements, hotels allocating rooms for quarantine at dedicated floors or blocks need to segregate the rooms meant for other other guests. They also need to showcase notices that they are providing Covid-19 related quarantine facilities.

Several hotels were badly affected when Singapore implemented restrictions on 7 April due to Covid-19.
