Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, a luxury resort in the UAE, has reportedly implemented a range of green initiatives as part of Hilton’s commitment to sustainability.

These initiatives include participation in the 25th cycle of the 2021 Can Collection Day in collaboration with Emirates Environmental Group. It aims to recycle as many aluminium cans as possible across the seven Emirates.

As part of this, Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah contributed 35 kilos of aluminium cans.

Moreover, the resort replaced all the plastic bottles with reusable glass water bottles, which can be filled from water stations across the hotel.

This project has reduced the production of plastic waste at the hotel by up to five tonnes per year over the last two years.

Now, all the plastic hotel key cards have also been replaced with eco-friendly wooden radio frequency identification (RFID) enabled key cards.

Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah noted that the new key cards are made completely from wood fibre. They are said to be fully biodegradable and tested to be recyclable.

Besides, the resort deployed 30nos variable-frequency drives (VFD), to control the air speed throughout the property. The 1,000-watt light at the tennis court have also been replaced with an eco-friendlier 400-watt LED light.

Now, totally 1,250 aerators are being installed in all guest rooms as well as at all public area washrooms of the property, which is expected to save about 100 cu m of water per day.

As reported in tradearabia, all these initiatives at Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah are being implemented to align with Hilton’s commitment to reduce half of its environmental footprint by 2030.
