Hotel franchising company Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has expanded its partnership with cloud computing services provider Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The renewed collaboration strengthens an association that began in 2018 when Wyndham was spun off from Wyndham Worldwide and sought to set up own IT infrastructure.

Wyndham has already migrated its core reservation system, property management system, and data processing platform to AWS.

The hotel company now seeks to expand its presence in the cloud to focus on growing franchise business.

Particularly, Wyndham will use AWS’s cloud technologies to develop and deploy new services for travellers and franchisees across its 21 hotel brands.

These include using AWS machine learning to optimise more than 90,000 daily rate changes across its hotel portfolio. This will help in maximising occupancy rates.

Wyndham will also use AWS technologies to automate check-ins and deliver customised offers to the guests.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts executive vice-president and chief information officer Scott Strickland said: “We are excited to expand our strategic relationship with AWS, the world’s leading and most comprehensive cloud provider, to create one-of-a-kind experiences for our guests and increase our operational efficiency on a global scale.

“By moving the majority of our workloads to the cloud, Wyndham was able to rapidly respond to the changing business conditions brought on by Covid-19, and now we’re positioned to scale our operations as different parts of the world begin to reopen.”

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has around 9,000 hotels across nearly 95 countries in its franchise portfolio.

Earlier this year, the company announced the signing of Ramada Encore by Wyndham in Indore. The hotel, slated to open next year, will bolster its mid-scale brand presence in India.
