Minor Hotels will open Avani Cypress Lakes Resort in Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Australia.

The project will combine the existing Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort and neighbouring Elysia Wellness Retreat.

The 340-acre development is expected to become Australia’s largest integrated resort wellness precinct.

Avani Cypress Lakes Resort will be the brand’s largest property in Australasia. It will have 204 rooms and suites across two accommodation offerings.

Facilities at the upcoming resort includes an 18-hole golf course, 24 meeting and event venues, two restaurants, a pool bar, and an all-day dining outlet.

One of the new restaurants, Chakraya, will draw on Sri Lankan flavours and culinary traditions.

The project will also introduce AvaniWell spa and wellness centre to Australia. The concept was launched at Avani+ Hua Hin Resort in Thailand in 2024.

Elysia Wellness Retreat, which will be converted into AvaniWell at Cypress Lakes Resort, will include 70 wellness suites, a magnesium pool, 26 treatment rooms, ten Pilates reformers, infrared saunas, outdoor cold-plunge pools, and areas for seminars and group sessions.

Other additions planned during the redevelopment include three pickleball courts, an outdoor cinema, and a pool bar with a DJ booth.

The resort will be upgraded in phases. The first new facilities are scheduled to open in October 2026, while the full redevelopment is due for completion in the third quarter of 2027.

Avani Cypress Lakes Resort will become Avani’s third property in Australasia. Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel is due to open in May 2026, while Avani Queenstown is scheduled to launch in September 2026.

“Avani Cypress Lakes Resort has been designed around this shift, allowing guests to incorporate wellness into a family holiday, corporate retreat, golf escape or weekend break.”

Earlier this month, Minor Hotels announced its plan to open an Avani-branded hotel in the Malaysian state of Sabah in the first quarter of 2027.
