Sharjah, UAE, has seen a 70% rise in hotel occupancy in the third quarter of 2010 compared with the 65% rise seen in the same period of 2009, according to a report by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Department.
The emirate’s hotels recorded 72% occupancy, a 4% increase on the 2009 results, while hotel apartments posted a 67% occupancy compared with a 61% increase last year.
The number of hotel guests staying in hotels and hotel apartments increased to 1.1 million this year compared with one million last year.
The total number of room nights in Sharjah’s hotels and hotel apartments rose to 1.12 million
The hotel occupancy rates is expected to increase in the next three months due to events such as the Sharjah water festival.
