Welsh Room Rates Fall in August

The report noted that room yield declined by 3.9% to £40.14 ($64) in August 2010 from £41.79 ($67) the previous year.

Occupancy grew by just 0.4% compared with the same period last year.

Average room rates fell by 5.8% to £60.19 ($96) in the city of Cardiff, while occupancy levels grew by less than 1% to 74.7%.

The city of Swansea posted a 1.3% fall in occupancy to 81.8%, despite reducing its average room rates to £58.66 ($94), according to walesonline.co.uk.
