Ukraine’s capital Kiev is expected to see the addition of nine hotels and 1,683 rooms ahead of the Euro 2012 soccer championship.
According to Union of European Football Association (UEFA), Kiev must provide 7,300 rooms ahead of the event – 1,950 rooms in five-star hotels, 4,950 rooms in four-star hotels and 400 rooms in three-star hotels.
The nine hotels being built will make 946 rooms available above UEFA’s hotel room requirements, according to kyivpost.com.
The hotels are expected to open before the start of the event on 8 June 2012.
Ukraine enacted a new tax code in 2010 giving tax breaks to hotel builders as an incentive leading up to Europe’s biggest sporting event.
