InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is planning to increase its Indian portfolio by developing 46 properties across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities in India.
Over 70% of these properties will be in the mid-scale segment under the Holiday Inn brand.
IHG has also signed a joint venture agreement with Duet India to develop and manage a chain of 20 focused mid-scale full-service hotels under the brand Holiday Inn Express in the next five years.
IHG currently operates 14 hotels in India under three brands: four properties under InterContinental Hotels, Four properties under Crowne Plaza and six properties under Holiday Inn, comprising 2,200 rooms.
IHG is targeting to have at least 15,000 rooms under its management by 2016, and further plans to have 150 hotels by 2020, according to thehindubusinessline.com.
