Spain-based hotel operator RIU has opened the $110m Hotel RIU Guadalajara Plaza in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The new property is the company’s second urban hotel in Latin America, and will serve business travellers in Guadalajara.
The 43-storey hotel features 550 rooms, a penthouse, two restaurants, a bar and a swimming pool, according to laht.com.
RIU has hotels in beach and resort destinations in 19 countries and launched its business-class line in September 2010 with a hotel in Panama City.
The company is to open a third urban hotel in Latin America, and is in the process of selecting a destination: the Mexican city of Monterrey is among the candidates.
