Appu Hotels to Open Three Properties in India

India-based Appu Hotels is to invest Rs6bn ($134m) over the next two years in opening three hotels in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Appu Hotels chairman Palani Periasamy said the three projects would add 200 five-star rooms and 300 four-star rooms.

The company hopes to complete the Rs2bn high-end beach resort Le Meridian Resorts and Spa, which is located between Chennai and Mahabalipuram, by 2012.

Appu Hotels, which currently has two hotels in Chennai and Coimbatore offering 510 rooms, aims to increase the total number of rooms to 1,000 by 2015, and is also considering expanding into European and US markets, according to business-standard.com.
