Marriott International is to launch ten hotels under its luxury JW Marriott brand at various locations across India by 2015.
Marriott International vice-president Rajeev Monon said the hotels will be established at locations such as Bangalore, Delhi Airport, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune and Mumbai, and will be spread over three to five acres of land with 200-250 rooms per hotel.
Marriott International also announced the opening of its Rs3.5bn ($78m) JW Marriott hotel in Chandigarh.
The hotel chain also plans to set up new properties under the Courtyard brand in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Himachal Pradesh.
Marriott International has 3,600 properties in 71 countries and reported sales of $12bn in 2010.
