Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide has selected VingCard Elsafe’s Smart check-in programme with advanced RFID technology for one of its newest hotels, the Aloft New York Brooklyn.

On arrival, guests at the 176-room hotel can bypass the front desk with the VingCard Elsafe’s VISIONLINE wireless RF-online locking system, which provides them with an Aloft brand SPG card that features an embedded RFID tag.

On the day of a planned stay at Aloft Brooklyn, a text message is sent to the guest’s mobile device with their room number. This allows them to go directly to their room where their encrypted Aloft brand SPG card will unlock the door.

The system features stand-alone electronic locks that communicate with a central property server through online radio frequency, thereby eliminating the need to manually encode key cards, cancel master cards and check battery life.

VingCard Elsafe has also integrated Orion, an energy management solution with full wireless online functionality, with the locking system to help reduce energy consumption while ensuring guestroom temperature comfort.

When guestrooms are unoccupied Orion automatically assumes control of the ambient temperature and resumes the preset temperature settings.
