IHG to operate four new hotels in India

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed agreements to operate four new hotels in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Gurgaon in India, all to be operational by 2013. Together, the hotels will add 900 rooms to the company's planned 10,000-room inventory in India over the next three years.

Together, the hotels will add 900 rooms to the company’s planned 10,000-room inventory in India over the next three years.

The properties include the 179-room Holiday Inn Express Bengaluru Sarjapur, which will be developed by Duet Smart Hotels India; the 160-room Holiday Inn Express Hyderabad Kukatpally and the 360-room Holiday Inn Hyderabad Kukatpally, to be developed by Nama Hotels / Madhucon Group; and the 168-room Holiday Inn Express Gurgaon Golf Course Extension Road, which will be developed by the JMD Group.

Jan Smits, IHG CEO for Asia, Middle East and Africa, said the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels would form over 75% of the company’s development pipeline in India.

“India as a destination continues to attract more and more foreign visitors,” he added.

With the new agreements, IHG’s India pipeline includes 47 hotels across its InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands.
