French technology company Ariane Systems has unveiled its new compact guestroom keycard dispenser.

The KeyStation, which comprises a 9 inch digital touchscreen, a 2D barcode reader and a keycard encoder / stacker, allows hotels to offer a 100% self-service option.

The device is compatible with loyalty cards and magstripe and RFID keycards, and is easily portable for use as a countertop unit or a free-standing pedestal.

Guests will automatically receive an email and / or SMS text message with a barcode on the day of arrival once they finalise the web check-in process using Ariane’s Allegro web check-in.

On arrival, the guest places the barcode, which can be printed out or used directly from the screen of any web-enabled device, under the 2D barcode reader on the KeyStation which searches the database and retrieves the guest’s reservation details.

The process also includes the selection of the desired number of keycards by the guest, which will then be encoded and dispensed by KeyStation.
