International hotel brand Accor has signed a deal to manage the majority of rooms at the 170-room Hotel Lighter Quay in Auckland, New Zealand.

The company will manage a minimum of 130 rooms at the renamed Hotel Lighter Quay from the end of September 2011.

Formerly known as Hotel Viaduct Harbour, the Hotel Lighter Quay joins Accor’s MGallery global portfolio of 45 boutique and upscale properties, and will be launched under its new name in September.

Originally, the hotel and its rooms were run by Westin, but the chain pulled out in July this year.
