Sean Quinn, owner of Quinn hotels and Quinn public houses is the richest man in hospitality in this year’s Sunday Times Rich List. Quinn is claimed to have a fortune of £3bn and beat Mentmore Towers owner Simon Halabi by £50m to top the annual list.
The fortunes of many of the United Kingdom’s wealthiest hoteliers was boosted by rising property prices – Sir Rocco Forte’s wealth rose from £385m to £450m over 2006. Elsewhere, EasyHotel owner Stelios Haji-Ioannou’s fortune has risen from £727m to £1.29bn. The richest woman in hospitality is Julia Hands, owner of Hand Picked Hotels chain of 14 country properties.
