Hotel group Travelodge is to unveil a £3.5bn investment plan that will make the budget hotel group twice as large as its market leader Premier Travel Inn.
The plan will create 600 new Travelodges. In London alone the programme will add 22,000 new rooms. In other parts of the country factories and office buildings are to be converted.
Up to 10,000 new jobs will be created as a result of the scheme and the budget hotel chain expects to have a 10% share of the market by 2010.
